Pilots compete to take off and land in the shortest combined distance — judged head-to-head, scored in feet. Part airshow, part motorsports, and 100% American aviation: it’s the most precise sport in the sky, and it’s happening right outside Nashville for two days in October.

Warbirds on the field.
The Commemorative Air Force is bringing three World War II aircraft to Lebanon for both days of the event, and two of them are flying.
P-51D Mustang “Red Nose”
CAF Airbase Georgia. This is the airplane that started the Commemorative Air Force: four men bought it in 1957 for $2,500, someone painted the organization’s name on the tail, and the name stuck. Rides available.
SBD-5 Dauntless
The Navy dive bomber that turned the Pacific war at Midway. One of a handful still flying. Rides available.
P-63A Kingcobra
On static display in the fan zone, and worth the walk. Few people have ever seen one in person.
SNJ & PT-19
The CAF Music City Wing, based here at Lebanon, is also flying rides in its SNJ advanced trainer and PT-19 open-cockpit primary trainer.
Book ahead through the CAF or sign up at the event. Either way you check in inside the gate. Come in the main entrance on Castle Heights Avenue like everyone else — there is no separate gate for rides.
Rides are sold by the CAF, not by Music City STOL, and are separate from event admission. Subject to weather and aircraft availability. Minimum age 12.

🛩 Warbird Rides
CAF warbirds on the field both days — rides from noon Friday and all day Saturday. Rides are sold by the Commemorative Air Force and are not included in event admission.

Getting here & getting home.
Two ways in, one way out that works for almost everyone, and free parking for all. Give the map thirty seconds now and you’ll skip the line on Saturday.
Route A From I-40 · Nashville side
- Take Exit 236 — South Hartmann Drive
- Right onto Franklin Road, about 900 feet north of the interstate
- Left onto Castle Heights Avenue, 1.1 miles along Franklin
- Entrance is a half mile up on your left — follow the signs and our volunteers in
Route B From Lebanon, US-231 or I-40 East
- Head north on US-231 — from Exit 238, or join it in town
- Left onto Leeville Pike, 1.3 miles up US-231
- Left onto Castle Heights Avenue, 0.8 mile west on Leeville — entrance is a half mile down on your right
Parking & heading home
Parking is free, and there’s far more than we need. Volunteers will put you in a row — please take the spot they point you to. The rows are why everyone gets out quickly.
Nearly everyone turns right leaving the airport: south on Castle Heights, right on Franklin Road, straight back to Exit 236. Headed north or east? Officers will release a left-turn lane up to Leeville Pike. Either way, not north into town.
Saturday is the one to plan for. The lot empties all at once after the last round, around 3:30. In no hurry? Give it fifteen minutes and you’ll drive straight out. Friday’s practice traffic trickles out on its own.

- Expect event NOTAMs — the airfield operates under restrictions during competition windows (Fri practice 11–3, Sat competition ~9–5). Check NOTAMs before every leg.
- Competitors: arrivals run Thursday, Oct 8 — check in at the field 3:00–5:00 PM. Arrival procedures and aircraft parking come from National STOL as the event approaches.
